Motor Vehicle Apprentice - Fix Auto Blackburn +

JOB DESCRIPTION

MET stands for Mechanical, Electrical and Trim. An MET Technician is responsible for identifying damaged components on vehicles and removing them before any panel work and paint work is carried out. Once the panel and paint work has been completed, the MET Technician refits the required parts, then tests the vehicle to ensure safety and reliability is maintained. In addition to carrying out necessary mechanical and electrical and bodywork dismantling, there is an element of inspection, fault-finding, diagnostic work and testing involved in the role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

To identify and utilise the correct methods of working by using your experience, skills, training and industry knowledge, referring to the available technical information where appropriate.

Personal Qualities 

A genuine interest in motor vehicles or similar and some work experience would be preferable. A proven record of good attendance and time-keeping, the ability to learn quickly, to communicate well and evidence of having a sense of humour.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s, preferably grade C or above.

Skills

To listen well, to ask good questions, to learn quickly. We don’t expect candidates to have much previous work experience but we are expecting them to have a genuine interest in cars and to have an aptitude for working with hand held tools.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Assisting Services, repairs and MOTs, use of basic hand tools and gaining knowledge of basic mechanics, tools and usage.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assisting, shadowing and observing appropriate appointed staff member.
  • Follow Health and Safety and Hygiene rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy work area

Personal Qualities 

  • Keen and enthusiastic person with an interest in mechanics.

Qualifications Required

You will be working towards a level 2 apprenticeship in Light Vehicle

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Motor Vehicle Apprentice you would be required to learn how to service and repair vehicles and generally support the effective running of a Vehicle Repair Garage. You would further be expected to attend College one day per week as part of your training programme. Your College studies would include both the theoretical and practical aspects of Vehicle Repair / Service and you would be required to improve your Maths, English and ICT skills to a level where you would be confident to run your own Garage in the future.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learning how to competently service and repair vehicles
  • Assist in the support of the effective running of the garage
  • Clean the garage and assist in the effective organisation, maintenance and cleanliness of tools and equipment.
  • Learn how to deal with customers effectively which may involve answering phone calls and verbally communicating with customers.
  • Learn how to order parts effectively.
  • A typical apprentice task may also be offering and making refreshments for staff.
  • Some garages may request that you also clean and valet cars as part of their Customer Relations policy, or preparing vehicles for sale.
