This course covers all the elements of Bricklaying from using handtools and equipment to build solid walls, cavity walls, piers and brick cladding. Alongside the practical tasks, you will learn about materials and equipment, types ofwall construction, setting out and thin joint masonry.

You will work in a purpose built workshop that is designed to stretch and challenge all learner’s skills and knowledge during training for synoptic end assessments using the very best, up to date resources that the industry has to offer. Theory classes are held in modern classrooms with excellent resources and taught by highly experienced and knowledgeable staff.

Over the year, you will achieve the qualifications by attending college three days per week. (Full time only)

Entry requirements

Ideally, you will have completed diploma level 1 and have GCSEs in English and Maths at grade D/3 or above.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and Maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

How will I be assessed?

Your diploma will be assessed by practical end tests and online end of unit tests.

Progression and employment

Successful completion of this course can lead to the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying or ideally an apprenticeship.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.
