Overview

If you want to become a highly qualified Bricklayer with a skillset that is higher than your competitors or have aspirations to go onto higher education and university then this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to succeed.

The level 3 course offers the opportunity to learn about and carry out complex brickwork using special shaped bricks, decorative features and repairs to walling, giving you the knowledge and ability to work in industry or enrol on a level 4 HNC course.

You will work in a purpose built workshop that is designed to stretch and challenge all learner’s skills and knowledge during training for synoptic end assessments using the very best, up to date resources that the industry has to offer. Theory classes are held in modern classrooms with excellent resources and taught by highly experienced and knowledgeable staff.

Entry requirements

A level 2 qualification in Bricklaying and English and maths at grade 4-9  (C or above).

How will I be assessed?

Your diploma will be assessed by practical end tests and online end of unit tests.

Progression and employment

Progression is either into industry or higher level study such as the level 4 HNC which will then lead to university and a role within professional construction.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.

Additional and key information

Much of the theory content and written work of this course will be available on-line through the College’s “itslearning” virtual learning environment. Candidates must be prepared to use IT as part of their learning.
