Overview

The purpose of this apprenticeship is to train administrators to work effectively within a business environment.

Business Administration Apprenticeships have been in the top twenty apprenticeship frameworks for a number of years, with around 30,000 apprentices starting the apprenticeship every year.

In previous years there were over 31,000 starts on the Business Administration apprenticeship. This apprenticeship builds on the success of its predecessor by using employer led, up to date, flexible qualifications which meet the changing skills needs of employers. It builds in softer-skills such as communication, team working, interpersonal skills and the ability to reflect on personal learning. It also ensure that the qualification is more Business focused by including many more business specific units.

Modules and units

  • Communication in a business environment
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues
  • Manage personal performance and development
  • Principles of business documentation production and information management
  • Principles of providing administrative services
  • Understand employer organisations

Entry requirements

  • English grade A* – D (or equivalent)
  • Maths grade A*-D (or equivalent)
  • College Interview

Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

The nine national outcomes for the employee rights and responsibilities (ERR) will be assessed via the combined Diploma in Business Administration.

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

This framework includes the mapping of Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) which have been mapped to the mandatory units of the knowledge and competence qualification. They are:

  • Creative thinkers
  • Reflective learners
  • Team workers
  • Self-managers
  • Effective participators

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through onsite visits and reviews.

Progression and employment

Apprentices can progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration, other Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeships such as Customer Service or Management, the Advanced Diploma in a range of related sectors or employment into Administration Executives, Personal Assistants or Office Supervisor.
