This qualification looks at the knowledge and understanding of the key principles of a wide range of mental health issues.

The qualification is designed for any learner that wants to raise their awareness of mental health and the problems that can cause mental ill-health. It also aims to develop the learner’s understanding and appreciation of a wide range of mental health conditions and their indicating signs, triggers and symptoms.

Course topics will include:

  • Bi-polar disorder
  • Dementia
  • Depression and post-natal depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Mental health
  • Phobias
  • Schizophrenia
  • Stress and anxiety.

Entry requirements

Good level of English and maths.

Qualifications achieved

Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems (QCF)

Progression and employment

Level 3 Substance Misuse or an Access to Higher Education course.
