The Level 2 Award in Substance Misuse aims to develop learners’ understanding surrounding substance misuse, its causes, the impact and the community responses. The qualification is aimed at individuals who are looking to work in a substance misuse role with progression routes to the Substance Misuse Level 3.

This course also includes the Level 1 Award in Skills for Employment. This award allows learners to gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively apply for employment and develops skills in adapting a CV, sending emails, applying for jobs and preparing for interviews.

Modules and units

The qualification aims to:

  • Consider the reasons people use drugs and be able to categorise drugs, explaining their effects
  • Examine different types of community involvement associated with substance use/misuse
  • Examine the size and scope of drug use/misuse in the UK
  • Identify examples of good practice in community involvement and development and look at national initiatives which support these
  • Investigate the signs and symptoms of drug use/misuse and the range of possible responses and services available.
