Overview

Topics covered include: the roles of the Emergency First Aider, assessing an incident, unconscious casualties CPR and the recovery position, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.

The qualification is assessed via on-going oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration.

All successful students will be issued with a First Aid at Work Certificate, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualification.

This course can be delivered at the College, Community Locations or at an Employer’s Premises for a full group of 12.

Modules and units

This qualification consists of two mandatory units, which learners must complete successfully in order to achieve the qualification:

  • Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
  • Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements. Learners must be able to complete the practical first aid assessments to achieve their certificate. Literacy at Level 1 is recommended.

How will I be assessed?

The course tutor will use a variety of methods included practical demonstrations and written tasks.

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

Progression and employment

After completing this course you may consider taking:

  • Emergency Paediatric First Aid Level 3
  • Paediatric First Aid Level 3.
