This qualification is made up of three units which include:
- Developing Site Carpentry Skills
- Introducing Bench Joinery Skills
- Introducing Site Carpentry Skills.

Candidates will not require any prior knowledge of the trade to undertake this qualification. This is an entry level course in Basic Carpentry and Joinery. It is open to anyone with a keen interest in improving their practical skills and provides the opportunity to obtain a basic qualification. It is suitable for people who wish to gain the basic tool skills or for DIY enthusiasts to improve their skills in order to undertake projects around the home.
There is the provision to complete a home project of your choice depending on skill level and resources available. The course is taught on an evening, part-time basis, for three and a half hours every week for nine weeks.
Please note that demand for the course is extremely high and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis; there are two intakes (one in September, one in February). Enrolment can be done at any time prior to the commencement of the course.
