If you’re interested in a career in the IT industry, this course is a good start for you. You will study a variety of units and carry out lots of practical activities.

Modules and units

Units include:

  • Computer networking
  • Installing and upgrading hardware
  • Installing and upgrading software
  • Technology systems
  • Website development.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at a grade 4 or equivalent in relevant subjects and English and maths at grade 3 (D equivalent) or above.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by two, one hour exams. The rest of the units are 100% coursework.

Progression and employment

Successful students will achieve a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. To progress to our Level 3 Information Technology – Software Development course you will need to achieve a Merit or better.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.
