Overview

This course is aimed at 16 – 18 year olds and you will be required to undertake more technical tasks than on the level 1 programme, including hot and cold water, sanitation and drainage and bathroom and heating installations.  You will learn mostly through practical tasks and demonstrations but will also be expected to attend theory lessons.

Entry requirements

This Level 2 study programme is aimed at 16 – 18 year olds who wish to pursue a career in the construction industry. Direct entry on to this courses is available so long as you have English and maths at grade C/4 or above. Alternately, you must have completed all aspects of the Level 1 study programme. You will also need to attend a college interview and complete an initial assessment.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be continuously assessed through assignments, activity reports, phase tests, a portfolio of your work and online exams.

Progression and employment

Successful completion of this course can lead to the Level 3 study programme in Plumbing, or ideally onto an apprenticeship.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.

Much of the theory content and written work of this course will be available on-line through the College’s “itslearning” virtual learning environment. Candidates must be prepared to use IT as part of their learning.
