Criminology is a multi-disciplinary approach drawing from biological, psychological and sociological perspectives to attempt to explain crime and deviance.

This qualification acts as an effective experience in ‘return to learn’ study skills and the initial stages of learning about criminology. For example, besides exploring concepts and theories of criminology, the course provides you with a range of academic skills needed for further studies.

As this course is part time, it is an excellent course to study alongside any Counselling or Psychology or Mental Health qualifications.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required for entry for this qualification; however, we will invite you to attend an interview to assess if you have the required level of skills in research and formal writing.

Progression and employment

This qualification will provide you with academic skills needed for progression onto Level 3 studies such as the Access to Higher Education Diploma, also available at the college. The Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma will allow you to apply to degree courses. Upon successful completion of the course you are guaranteed an interview for the Access to Higher Education Diploma.
