A talented plumbing apprentice from Accrington and Rossendale College has won the North West regional finals of a major competition for the second time in a year.

Tanagon Ashworth, who won the regional heats of the UK Copper Board National Apprentice of the Year competition last year, followed up that success by winning the regional final of the National Plumbing Apprentice of the Year competition.

Tanagon, who is an apprentice at Jeff Pearson Plumbing & Heating in Rishton, competed against entrants from across the region said “They don’t tell you about the task so it’s a real challenge, that’s the best thing about the competition. I really enjoy the pressure; it’s a great experience. It’s a chance to compete with students who are all ages and levels from other colleges to be the best. This is the second year I’ve been involved in the competition. This time I have more experience and confidence. I’ll definitely try and win again.”

The finals are due to take place in Gloucestershire on the 29th – 30th April.
