Attendees will be given the opportunity to find out more about jobs and apprenticeships directly from employers and training providers.

Councillor Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said:

“We are looking for employers, recruiters and organisations to join us in giving young people as many opportunities as possible and to open doors to those currently not in employment or education. The event also gives organisations the chance to showcase what they can offer.”

Accrington and Rossendale College – one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in Lancashire – are using their admin skills and resources to work with the council to support employment and apprenticeships in the borough.

Charlotte Scheffmann, Assistant Principal at Accrington and Rossendale College, commented:

“We are hoping for the event to be a huge success and the college are very proud to be a part of it. There are some amazing businesses and training providers across Hyndburn, such as the North Lancs Training Group, who are all looking to help people find work and apprenticeships and the fair will connect the two together.”

A current Accrington and Rossendale College apprentice employed by Hambling Construction Ltd, James Fishwick, commented on the value of apprenticeships:

“I really enjoy it. I’d recommend an apprenticeship to anyone. I chose to take this route because I don’t want to sit at a desk all day – I’m happier doing things that are more physical. The college has definitely delivered with helping me on my way.”

Miles Parkinson added:

“There will be plenty of vacancies on offer. It’s a fantastic opportunity for people in the borough to become acquainted with local businesses and training providers. We have combined an employment event with our apprenticeship event to offer a greater variety of opportunities.”
