Course Overview

This course is part of our new Transitions Programme – a unique and individualised programme for Level 2 students. The course will support you in developing the key personal, technical and professional skills you need in order to get ahead, whether you want to progress to Level 3 or employment in your chosen sector.

The Media Professional Transitions programme is made up of subject specific practical skills including nail art, skin care, facials and manicures. You will also develop key employability skills including commitment, resilience, initiative, confidence, and professionalism.

After completing this course, you will have the necessary skills to progress onto a Level 3 course in Hair and Beauty or an Apprenticeship.

What will I learn?

The Media Professional Transitions programme is made up of subject specific practical skills including nail art, skin care, facials and manicures. You will also develop key employability skills including commitment, resilience, initiative, confidence, and professionalism.

Areas of study may include Enterprise Skills, Awareness of Different Client Groups, Retailing Skills, and Hair, Beauty and Media Makeup Skills. You will also work on your Maths and English
skills.

How will the course be assessed?

Online tests in college and carrying out practical assessments on models and clients.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.

Materials and other information

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

For health and safety reasons and in order to comply with the code of ethics in assessment, you must comply with the following:

  • You will require a kit and uniform; this should be purchased through the College.
  • A uniform must be worn at all times.
  • You are required to bring into college your kit and any stationary needed to complete your college work for every session on your timetable.

You will be required to undertake work experience on additional days, evenings and weekends to enhance your portfolio of skills.

 

 

Progression and Careers

After completing this course, you will have the necessary skills to progress onto a Level 3 course in Hair and Beauty or an Apprenticeship.
