Course Overview
This course has been developed alongside the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and is designed to support progression to multiple routes including employment, Higher Education and Apprenticeships.
The range of modules you will study include Developing and Applied Coaching Skills, Sports Psychology, Nutrition, Sports Injuries and Massage, Fitness Training and Testing and Practical Sports Application. The curriculum will develop key industry skills including leadership, communication and a range of practical and technical skills in order to help you develop a career in the sports industry.

How will the course be assessed?
The units are assessed using a variety of different methods including written assignments, PowerPoint presentations, group work, practical assessments and competency based assessments. 100% of coursework is internally assessed. You will also develop your practical and technical knowledge through a range of practical, class based and lab based learning opportunities.

There are a range of recommended reading materials for this programme. Students are required to purchase a sports kit. Please note suitable footwear for the 3G pitch is either sports trainers, moulded boots or astro trainers. The remaining attire is general sportswear e.g. shorts, tracksuit bottoms, and suitable footwear, indoor and outdoor. Progression and Careers
From this programme you can progress to Higher Education, including our own degree course in Sports Coaching and Performance or into employment, as you will be Level 1 Coach qualified on successful completion. You may also wish to consider an Apprenticeship.
