Healthy College

The College understands the importance of providing access to activities and health services for students which develop and maintain healthy lifestyles. We aim to provide every opportunity to make sure your time at college allows you to be both happy and healthy.

The college provides a range of opportunities for students to adopt positive health choices and play a part in planning and developing college activities and services. The college works closely with Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and other agencies to provide services which are free, friendly and accessible to people of all ages, confidential and meet your needs. All health services are planned and delivered to a high quality and ensure that You’re Welcome Quality Criteria are met. The College has received Healthy FE Recognition.

Health Activities +

There are various health activities which occur throughout the year. All these activities can be found on the Health Zone on itslearning. Your tutor will also provide information about ‘what’s on’. You will be able to take part in many enrichment activities which will provide the opportunity for you to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Healthy College Group +

Staff and students meet on a regular basis to discuss and plan health activities and services within college. This group takes seriously the views and wishes of both students and staff and responds to any new suggestions. Any suggestions can be sent either to Vicky Webster through the Health Zone, or Lisa Hartley, Personnel Development Manager,

The Health Zone +

On itslearning it has lots of information about a variety of health issues. You can also see what health services and activities are provided in college and these are updated on a regular basis. You can email the different services to make appointments and you will find all the contact details of each service in case you need to make an appointment at a different time to their usual session times.

The College has a Health Development Practitioner (sometimes called the College Nurse) based in the college. She offers drop-in sessions for students to access confidential general health care and advice and is an alternative source of support and information in college. Drop in sessions promote good health and wellbeing and encourage students to value and be responsible for their own health and welfare.

She is based in The Hub – so you can just ‘drop in’ or email her through the Health Zone (
