The creative media production offers a vocational learning approach to an interesting and ever-expanding industry. The professional facilities within the media and computing departments ensure that you not only gain the knowledge of the subject but you are able to put new ideas and skills into practice. On the creative media production course you will learn the foundations to develop your skills in photography, graphics and film editing as well as apply theory of the industry in a rich learning environment.

Entry requirements

You will require two GCSEs at Grade 2 and 3 or above (including English and maths), plus a successful interview.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through coursework and practical projects.

Progression and employment

Completion of the Level 1 and successful grades in English and maths means you will be able to apply to the Level 2 Extended Certificate in Creative Media Production.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.

What will I study?

Course content: This is a one year full time course which involves 3 days of study a week. This will give you the opportunity to improve confidence, take part in lots of practical activities, days out and give you taste of lots of different pathways available to study within the college on completion of the course. Maths and English: Alongside this programme you will complete Functional Skills maths and English. These lessons will give you the key skills to progress effectively in everyday life and employment. Work related learning: The work related learning programme focuses on the high expectations of employers, encouraging and supporting learners to develop the skills required to progress into other vocational areas and employment. This includes subject areas such as equality and diversity, healthy living, money management and enterprise activities. Tutorial: Tutorial is a workshop designed to develop your employability skills and produce a portfolio of evidence including a CV, personal statement, and general evidence of good practice within your academic studies.
