The creative media course offers a vocational learning approach to an interesting and ever-expanding industry.

The professional facilities (TV Studio, Radio Studio, Edit Suites and Design Studio) within the media department ensure that you not only gain the knowledge of the subject but you are able to put new ideas and skills into practice. You will discover the key principles of animation, journalism, radio, filmmaking, graphic design amongst other creative industries as well as preparing to build your own creative portfolio.

The course is designed each year to reflect industry demand by a team of professionals who ensure each learner is equipped for higher education or to work within the industry at entry level.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including English and maths) plus a successful interview. Mature students are also welcome as long as they can demonstrate a suitable level of knowledge.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through coursework and practical projects.

Progression and employment

Completion of the Level 3 Extended Diploma means you will be able to apply to any Higher Education level course at any institution including internal. The practical nature of the course will also give you valuable skills to be able to apply for entry level jobs within the industry.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.
