Overview

Administration professionals are vital for the efficient running of legal businesses and apprentices can work in a wide range of legal areas including: Employment, Family, Commercial, Property and criminal and the apprenticeship can be a stepping stone towards more specialist and senior positions within a firm.

Intermediate apprentices may work in roles such as administrators, office juniors, medial receptionists, legal secretaries and medical secretaries.

Tasks undertaken by legal admin apprentices will vary depending on the sector to which they are employed.  Tasks may include, producing business documents, contributing to events, filing and maintaining legal records, answering letters, proof reading, using and maintaining equipment, providing minutes for meetings etc.

Support will be offered to find your apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

  • English grade A*-D/9-5 (or equivalent)
  • Maths grade A*-D/9-5 (or equivalent)
  • College interview

Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

The nine national outcomes for the employee rights and responsibilities (ERR) will be met by an externally and verified qualification.

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

This framework includes the mapping of Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) which have been mapped to the mandatory units of the knowledge and competence qualification. They are:

  • Team workers
  • Self-managers
  • Effective participators

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through onsite visits, reviews and an online portfolio.

Progression and employment

Apprentices studying this apprenticeship could progress, with support, from the workplace, onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Administration, Business Administration, Management or Customer Service.

Other progression routes apprentices at this level could take are diplomas in a range of related sectors, including business, administration, finance, public service, retail, management.

With additional training, intermediate apprentices may be able to progress their careers into roles including legal secretary, office supervisors, personal assistants or a wide range of other business roles.
