This qualification allows learners to gain a deeper understanding of the role as a mentor and develop the skills needed to become an effective mentor. The aim of the qualification is to help learners:

  • Be clear about mentor/mentee relationships
  • Develop the specific skills and understanding they will require in order to mentor
  • Ensure they follow good practice
  • Gain an insight into the role and practice of mentorship
  • Reflect on their own learning and work performance
  • To gain this qualification, learners must be able to demonstrate their mentoring skills
  • Understand the benefits of mentoring
  • Understand the legal and ethical mentoring requirements.

Entry requirements

Good level of English and maths.

Portfolio of evidence.

Level 1 Award in Mentoring (QCF)

Progression and employment

Level 2 Mentoring or Level 2 Team Leading.
