If you’re aged between 11 and 16 you can train at the brand new ‘Roots Restaurant’ alongside experienced and friendly chefs!

Get a head start in your career by spending three hours each Thursday (4:30pm – 7:30pm) learning to cook in the state-of-the-art training kitchens and bakery, then eat fantastic-tasting food and gain knowledge about nutrition, hygiene, health and safety. At the end of the course all students will receive a menu booklet and certificate.

Places are strictly limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Entry requirements

To be aged between 12 and 16 and have an enthusiastic approach to cookery and a commitment to learn.


How will I be assessed?

Weekly on the dishes that are produced.

How much will the course cost me?

The cost of the course is £15 per week per person (£150 in total). All ingredients are provided and everything you make is yours to take home.

Additional and key information

The Hospitality and Catering section is housed in the multi million pound Heartwood Centre in the centre of Accrington, the environment where you will study has been specially designed so that you can gain skills that employers are looking for. You will work in Roots Restaurant and will have the opportunity to gain experience in the commercial areas of conferences and functions. We provide a learning experience which is hands-on as well as theoretical in a College that has a long tradition of producing graduates who go on to work at the highest level in a range of premiere catering establishments.
