Our sport and active leisure level three course will provide you with an opportunity to focus on developing your wider knowledge of sport, its development, coaching and the human body. You will take part in a wide range of sports and be given the chance to complete a period of work experience to test your newly improved skills and develop your contacts in the local area.

Entry requirements

To study on the BTEC Level 3 you are required to have five GCSEs at grades 4 or above including English and maths.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in a varied and creative manner. Throughout the year you will develop your report writing, presentation and practical skills through a range of tasks and assessments.

Progression and employment

This course holds UCAS points and a large number of our student’s progress into university both in the UK and in the USA on a scholarship. This course will allow you to study a range of Sports Degrees including Sports Science, Sports Coaching and Sports Rehabilitation. There are also further pathways into vocations in sport such as the fitness and performance industry.

How much will the course cost me?

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds. There may be an additional cost for trips and equipment but this will be disclosed prior to starting your course.

Additional and key information

This course will provide you with access to the full college enrichment programme and opportunity to take part in inter-college multi-sport tournaments. You will also be involved in promoting and leading sport in the local communities utilising our strong links to local primary schools.
