The purpose of this framework is to meet the skills needs of employers of all sizes across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. It will attract new talent into management and will help to up-skill the workforce to replace those who leave or retire. Intermediate apprentices will work in job roles such as team/section leaders, floor managers, help desk managers and trainee supervisors. Advanced apprentices will work in job roles such as first line, section, assistant or trainee managers, senior supervisors and junior noncommissioned officers (armed forces).

Tasks undertaken by apprentices will vary depending on the level and sector in which they are employed. Tasks may include planning, allocating and monitoring the work of the team, giving feedback, briefing teams, supporting team members, managing conflict, resolving problems, procuring supplies, project management, agreeing budgets and managing and improving customer service.

Entry requirements

  • English Grade D/5 (or equivalent)
  • Maths Grade D/5 (or equivalent)
  • College interview
  • Currently employed

Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.

Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

The nine national outcomes for the employee rights and responsibilities (ERR) will be met and assessed via a workbook of evidence mapped to the knowledge and competence qualification.

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

This framework includes the mapping of Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) which have been mapped to the mandatory units of the knowledge and competence qualification. They are…

You will be assessed through onsite visits and reviews.

Progression and employment

There are a variety of progression routes from this apprenticeship.

With support from the workplace, there is an opportunity to continue and carry out an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Management or Business Administration.

With additional training, apprentices may be able to progress in their roles into management or supervisors.
