Accrington and Rossendale College will open its doors again to welcome in prospective students and their families to its Year 11 Open Event this month.

The College’s doors will open up to visitors on Wednesday 13 November between 5.30pm and 7.30pm when there will be another chance to come and discover what life is like at one of the top 10 colleges in the country for Level 3 learner achievement and Apprenticeship achievement, and a College which is being significantly improved with £4 million of investment.

New and innovative student spaces are already finished as part of the investment, as well as a fully-modernised Learning Resource Centre, new dedicated study zones and a purpose-built Learner Services and Careers Zone. New commercial Hair and Beauty salons, a remodeled Refectory, a revamp of the Construction trades facilities, and outdoor landscaping to improve access are coming soon in the next phases of work.

Those attending the Open Event can find out more about the broad range high quality vocational and technical courses offered at Accrington and Rossendale College that can lead into rewarding and successful careers, as well as valuable Apprenticeships in many industry sectors, and brand new T Level qualifications in Digital and Childcare to be delivered from September 2020.

Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy a tour of the campus, talk to expert tutors and members of the Careers Team, and take part in a range of exciting ‘have a go’ activities. There will also be the opportunity to discover Accrington and Rossendale College’s outstanding extracurricular programme, and find out more about financial assistance and the extensive support services available.

Michelle Haworth, who is studying Level 3 Auto Electrics at Accrington and Rossendale College, said: “I chose my subject because it has always been an interest of mine and it is the perfect time as the automotive industry is changing. My ambition is to become a master technician within a major company.

“My course is more practical based than theory which I like, and it does not just include auto electrics – it includes light vehicle work and there is the diagnostics side to it too.

“Accrington and Rossendale College allows you to grow and gain independence. It has fantastic learning facilities, great career support and friendly and knowledgeable tutors.”

Chloe Begley, who is studying Level 3 Health and Social Work Professions, said: “I’m really enjoying my course and I would recommend Accrington and Rossendale College because my tutors have been very supportive and friendly.

“I’ve come so far at College, and it has been a challenging and memorable experience. I’m working towards becoming an effective practitioner in psychology which is an area that I am passionate about.”
