Katie is currently studying Functional Skills ICT and Maths alongside a Level 2 Children and Young Peoples Workforce Intermediate Apprenticeship. Earlier in the year, Katie completed her Level 1 ICT exams for which she achieved an amazing 100%! Katie is currently working at Oscar Bear’s Nursery in Accrington whilst she completes her apprenticeship.

Kelly Williamson, Deputy Manager at Oscar Bears Nursery, said:

“Katie is a pleasure to have working with us. She really gives it her all, comes into work in the morning with a smile and is committed to her apprenticeship. The guidance received from the college is also ensuring a great work ethic which is so important for young people to learn when leaving school and going into employment.”

Ayeh Rakhshani, Functional Skills Trainer – Assessor, commented:

“Katie started working on her Functional Skills ICT L1 on 17th January this year, I visited her at the nursery every couple of weeks for an hour, starting as a bit of a novice Katie worked really hard and had an excellent attitude to learning. It didn’t take us long to cover the whole curriculum and book Katie in for her test, she sat it, not only passed it but got an amazing 100%! I have checked our ICT L1 exam results for as far back as 2014 and this appears to be the only 100% result we have had for this qualification.”

Katie commented:

“I’m really thankful to the college for helping me achieve this result – the college really invest in students and I know that having these qualifications will benefit me massively. I love what I’m doing and I’m so excited about what the future holds!”
