Course Overview

This is a introduction taster session to the full course and qualification to help you have understanding of the course and structure. Digital skills are essential for life and this course will help you to learn the skills you need to be able to enjoy the benefits of getting online and using digital devices. Whatever your needs or interests such as booking a GP appointment, ordering shopping online, video calling family, supporting your child’s home learning or searching for a new job this course will give you the tools you need to use online and digital services safely.

What will I learn?

You will complete an initial assessment to find out what you already know and what is the right level for you. You will be given an outline to this course annd its content and any key assessment dates. Some examples of topics are listed below: • There are 5 skill areas within Essential Digital Skills
• Using devices and handling information – you will learn how to manage
and store information, identify and solve simple technical issues.
• Creating and Editing – starting with documents and moving on to other
types of digital media such as images, audio files and videos.
• Communicating – how to send emails and make video calls.
• Transacting – completing online forms and buying an item or service
online.
• Being safe and responsible online – keeping yourself safe and knowing
how to behave responsibly when online

How will the course be assessed?

Through group activities, individual tasks and assessments.
