Course Overview

The course follows the new specification GCSE Maths, which grades students from 9-1 instead of from A*-G.

This one-year GCSE Maths course is designed for people who need to improve their grade for personal, professional or educational reasons. A good grasp of essential mathematical concepts and techniques provides an important background to the study of many other subjects, and a GCSE grade 4 is a requirement for many careers and 

Further/Higher Education courses. You will need to have achieved a grade D/3 previously to retake your GCSE in one year.

We expect students to attend regularly and to hand in work on schedule. This is essential for success on the course.

How will the course be assessed?

Assessment of your progress is throughout the programme.  However, your overall results is based on externally set exams that is usually held during the day in May/June.  The date of this may vary.

Progression

You will gain a qualification essential for progress to many Level 3 courses including A-levels and Level 3 BTEC Diplomas. GCSE Maths at ‘C/4’ or above is also required for entry into teacher and nursing training and is demanded by many employers.
