Three local acts win opportunity to perform at music festival

Three local acts have won the opportunity to perform at the upcoming #AmazingAccrington – Live! music festival. The FREE family-friendly music festival, sponsored by Langtec plus Accrington and Rossendale College, is taking place on Broadway in #AmazingAccrington on Saturday 5th May from 11am-4pm.

Band, LDMP, and solo artists, Claudia Thompson and Alex Brierley will each be taking to the stage to showcase their talent.

LDMP are a three-piece urban style music group covering numerous genres such as Hip hop, R’n’B and soul. They have featured on music stations such as 2br, Fresh UK, Switch Radio and more, including American platforms. LDMP will be releasing their first at the end of 2018.

Claudia Thompson is a singer-songwriter from Accrington. She recently released an original EP on iTunes called Home for the Winter. Claudia is an avid performer and has taken part in numerous gigs in and around Accrington over the last couple of years.

Alex Brierley is a student at Accrington and Rossendale College. The talented singer/songwriter has worked alongside Boy George, Culture Club and The Clash producer Steve Levine. Alex has featured on several BBC radio shows – his first EP is coming out this year!

The competition was judged by local lad turned international pop sensation, Reece Bibby.

Reece commented:

“I really enjoyed judging this competition but did find it quite difficult! There were many brilliant acts but a few stood out and that’s why I chose for them to win this competition. Claudia Thompson has an amazing voice, Alex is very talented and clearly a great song writer, and LDMP are a great band offering something a bit more unique. I wish them all the best of luck on Saturday!”

The three shortlisted acts will be joined by guests: Christian Burrows, Tabitha Jade and Ella Shaw.
